October is National Farm to School (F2S) Month and, in Virginia, the celebration begins with Virginia Farm to School (VA F2S) Week during the first full week of October. Isle of Wight County Schools will make some noise for local farm to school programs on Thursday, October 5, 2023, with the Seventh Annual Crunch Heard ‘Round the Commonwealth. The Crunch features participants taking a bite out of a juicy Virginia apple to raise awareness about the value of connecting students with local food.

With the concern for flooding and strong winds across the county this afternoon, all Isle of Wight County Schools and Offices will be dismissing TWO (2) hours early today. In addition, all after school activities are canceled for today.

The RAPTOR system is an advanced visitor management tool designed to enhance the safety of our schools. It reads a visitor's identification (such as a driver's license or state-issued photo ID card), cross-references it against a national database of registered sex offenders from all 50 states, and promptly alerts administrators if a match is found.

All Isle of Wight County Schools and Offices are closed Friday, September 1, and Monday, September 4, for the Labor Day holiday. We look forward to welcoming back students for the new school year on Tuesday, September 5.
